Great Punches of the British Empire
For 200 years, Punch was the dominant social drink of the British Empire, the greatest the world has ever seen.
The one thing a traveler could expect to find, whether he was in deepest Scotland or farthest Tasmania, the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, the Carnatic coast of India or somewhere on one of the sea lanes that bound the vast Empire together, was a bowl of Punch.
But Punch was no monolith: there was more than one way to make it, and local variations abounded. This informal chat is designed to get to the bottom of a few of the most delicious.
This is an “industry only” Masterclass presented by the inimitable Dave Wondrich.
